Santa Fe County Commissioner Justin Greene Launches Campaign for Mayor with Bold Call for Change

Greene vows to bring fresh energy, real solutions, and a renewed spirit of accountability to City Hall.

Santa Fe, NM - Today, Santa Fe County Commissioner and longtime community advocate Justin Greene officially announced his candidacy for Mayor of Santa Fe, vowing to bring fresh energy, real solutions, and a renewed spirit of accountability to City Hall. Greene is a trusted small business owner, architect, a longtime community leader, and proven public servant. As Mayor he will restore trust, fix what’s broken, empower local communities and build a more livable, inclusive Santa Fe — one that works for everyone.

“Santa Fe is at a crossroads. Crumbling infrastructure. Rising rents. A worsening housing crisis. Leaders who talk but don’t act. People are fed up and ready for change  — today I'm announcing my candidacy for Mayor to bring that change,” said Greene. “People are tired of excuses. People want action. It’s time for leadership that respects the people of Santa Fe, builds trust, and delivers results with urgency and integrity.”

As Mayor, Greene will work collaboratively to get Santa Fe back on track, focusing on transparency, efficiency, and long-term planning to address our challenges. He will work to deliver effective solutions that improve our infrastructure, public safety, and response to the homelessness and housing crises.

Why Justin Greene is running:

A Vision for a Livable, Inclusive, and Resilient Santa Fe

Justin Greene is running for Mayor with one goal: to get Santa Fe working again for everyone. His priorities reflect what Santa Feans care about most: safe streets, affordable homes, good jobs, working infrastructure, and a government that listens and leads with integrity and urgency.

His plan includes:

  • Fix What’s Broken: Repair roads, parks, and public infrastructure with urgency and transparency. Prioritize community landmarks like our beloved Franklin Miles and Ragle parks, and finally repave Airport road.

  • Tackle the Housing Crisis: Expand affordable and workforce housing, especially for teachers, police, firefighters, and healthcare professionals with the “Strategic Housing” program. The goal is to reduce displacement and help Santa Feans stay in the communities they love.

  • Act on Homelessness: Implement the proven “One Door Campus” model that provides 24-7 shelter and services in a campus format.

  • Get Big Stuff Moving: Creating a dedicated “Special Projects Division” to move major initiatives like the urgently needed new wastewater treatment plant and the abovementioned One Door Campus, cutting through red tape to deliver real-world action.

  • A Southside That Thrives: Launch a bold “Southside Investment Plan” that includes a civic plaza, senior center, year-round farmers market, small business mercado, transit hub, and performing arts / community events space, all designed to celebrate local culture and create opportunities.

  • Keep Santa Fe Safe: Working with our public safety professionals — from the District Attorney to beat cops, the Sheriff, Public Defenders, and the Courts — to find solutions to the revolving door and gaps in the system by supporting smarter, community-centered policing and expanding mental health and behavioral crisis response services.
